Repairs to interstate begins in Newport area

NEWPORT — Repairs to two I-95 overpasses will limit southbound traffic to a single lane for six weeks, according to Maine Department of Transportation officials. The work began on Wednesday.

The pavement and Maine Central Railroad tracks need to be replaced on the overpasses carrying I-95 over the east branch of the Sebasticook River. The paved surface will be replaced to provide water and salt protection.
