Pickering powers George Stevens

EAST SULLIVAN – Chris Pickering scored 10 points in the fourth quarter to help rally his team from a 17-point deficit, and then he sank five free throws in overtime to lead George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill to an 87-84 schoolboy basketball victory over Sumner Tuesday night.

Eric Hutchins had nine fourth-quarter points and finished with a game-high 33. He was a perfect 11-for-11 from the foul line. Pickering wound up with 23 points.

GSA connected on 9 of 10 free throws in its fourth-quarter rally.

Jeb Pruett’s 27 points led Sumner. Willy Seward had 16 before fouling out in the fourth quarter. Adam Fisher added 15 points.
