Public TV awarded $350,000 grant

BANGOR — U.S. Rep. John Baldacci announced Tuesday that Maine Public Broadcasting has been awarded a $350,000 Rural Development Television Demonstration Grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

The funds, which are being made available through USDA’s Rural Economic and Community Development Administration, will enable Maine Public Broadcasting to develop television projects of value to rural parts of Maine.

“As a member of the House Agriculture Committee, I’m pleased that USDA officials have recognized the importance of this project,” said Baldacci. “By reaching out to rural areas with innovative programming and instructional efforts to help people better understand new information technologies, Maine Public Broadcasting will continue to play a beneficial role in our communities.”
