Maine Sens. William Cohen and Olympia Snowe announced Monday that a contract totaling more than $7.8 million has been awarded to Bath Iron Works by the U.S. Navy.
The award is for a combination of lead yard services on DDG 51-class Aegis guided-missile destroyers. BIW has been the technical center for this front-line Navy warship. Lead yard services include engineering and design work.
“This award is good news for Bath Iron Works and indicates the Navy’s continuing satisfaction with the work performed at the shipyard,” Cohen and Snowe said in a joint statement.
