KYLE MURPHY, production manager of Designwrights Inc., has been named assistant creative director at the marketing communications firm. In his new role, Murphy’s responsibilities include supervising the creative department, helping to develop strategies for clients and overseeing the development of creative concepts. He joined Designwrights in April 1995 after several years of managing his own design firm in southern California, and he served as art director and production manager for another California firm.

DR. EDWIN V. TAN has joined the staff of Arnold Memorial Medical Center in Jonesport. A board-certified internist, Tan will have an office practice and will also see patients at the Down East Community Hospital in Machias and at several area nursing homes. A native of the Philippines, Tan graduated from Cebu City College of Medicine in 1989. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Columbia University-Harlem Hospital in New York City.

DEBORAH J. MARSTERS has joined Peoples Heritage Bank as banking center manager at the Brewer branch. In her new role, Marsters will be responsible for retail and commercial business development as well as mortgage lending. She is a graduate of the Williams School of Banking and has 22 years of experience in banking.

CHRISTOPHER K. OLSEN has joined the Hope House Inc. as the organization’s resource developer. Olsen will be working on fund raising, volunteer development and public information. He has eight years of experience in professional fund raising and was recently with the American Cancer Society.

KAREN ABRAHAM has joined the sales team at Sawyer Environmental Services. Abraham has experience in sales and customer services gained while working as a sales representative at Sam’s Club in Bangor. Her role with Sawyer will be to attract new customers and to retain current ones through providing professional service and customer satisfaction.

PETER B. CHAVONELLE has been promoted from director of human resources to vice president of human resources at Bangor Savings Bank. He holds a bachelor’s degree from St. Francis College and a master’s degree from Montclair State University. Before joining Bangor Savings, Chavonelle spent six years as human resources director at Community Service Communications Inc. and three years with Employee Benefit Plan Administration as an account executive. He worked for 21 years as a middle and high school English teacher.

CHARITY L. HAMILTON has joined Prudential Preferred, a division of the Prudential Insurance Co. of America, as a special agent. She was formerly employed as a waitress at Governor’s Restaurant in Old Town.

WILLIAM CRANDALL has been hired as vice president and treasurer for First Citizens Bank in Presque Isle. Crandall has more than 25 years of accounting experience and served as senior auditor for Price Waterhouse & Co. and nine years at Dartmouth College as an auditor and controller. He has also worked as the accounting officer for Camden National Bank and as a controller and regional manager for First New Hampshire Bank of Lebanon. Most recently he was comptroller for an aviation service in Portland.
