Graduation ’96> Bangor High School

Bangor High School Principal Norris Nickerson has announced that Maria-Alexis Karris, Elisabeth Mary Morse, Kari Lee Rosenthal and Christopher Arlo Wright are the four medalists for the Class of 1996.

Karris, daughter of Drs. Lambros and Polly Karris, was a member of the National Honor Society. She received the Student Council Certificate for Excellence and the Superintendent’s Academic, Excellence in Spanish and William College Book awards. A member of the student and class councils, yearbook staff and Key Club, she was on the soccer and track teams. Karris plans to attend Brown University in Providence, R.I.

Morse is the daughter of Mark and Margaret Morse. A member of the National Honor Society, a Dirigo Girls State delegate and editor of the yearbook, she received the Superintendent’s Academic Achievement and Society of Women Engineers awards. Morse also participated in the University of Maine’s MERITS and Young Scholars programs and was active in Key Club. She was also a member of the softball and basketball teams and captain of the soccer team. Morse plans to attend Bowdoin College.

Rosenthal is the daughter of Dr. Robert and Barbara Rosenthal. A National Merit finalist and National Honor Society treasurer, she received academic awards in English, mathematics, science, Latin and history. She also received the Society of Women Engineers, Superintendent’s Academic Achievement and Mary Novak Book awards. A Dirigo Girls State delegate, she was a member of the Latin and Key clubs, math team and yearbook committee. She was also active in track and field hockey. She plans to attend Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.

Wright, the son of Gerald and Betsy Wright, was class council president and student council representative. A member of the National Honor Society and the math league, he received the University of Maine Achievement, Superintendent’s Academic Achievement and Chemistry Achievement awards. He was a member of the football, basketball and track teams. He plans to attend Dartmouth College in Hanover, N.H.

Commencement exercises will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 9, at the Bangor Auditorium.
