McCrea single leads Tigers past Eagles

FORT FAIRFIELD – Kim McCrea hit an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning to drive home the winning run as Fort Fairfield came from behind to collect a 12-11 schoolgirl softball win over Limestone Friday night under the lights.

McCrea finished with four singles and three RBIS for the unbeaten Tigers. Jessica Jandreau hit three singles Devin Jewitt socked a solo homer.

For Limestone, Kelly Harmon hit three singles and scored three times. Chrissy Harvey also had three singles.

Penquis 7, Katahdin 5

At Sherman Station, Penquis of Milo scored two runs on an error in the top of the eighth inning to pull ahead for the win.

Erin Weston paced Penquis with two doubles and a single. Amanda Morey, Barany Chessa, Amanda Haskell and Crystal Russell all had two hits.

For Katahdin, Portia Anderson rapped two singles and a double and Danielle Atkinson hit two doubles. Jennie McNally hit a single and a double.

Ashland 16, C. Aroostook 1

At Mars Hill, Alicia Nason spun a four-hitter, striking out eight and walking two, as the Ashland Hornets remained unbeaten.

Amy Palmer plated three runs for Ashland with a double and Jen Carney had two singles and two RBIs.

For Central Aroostook, Andrea Lunn hit two singles and Bobbi-Jo Dyer drove in the lone run with a triple.

At Mars Hill, Chad Boyd ripped three hits to lead a 13-hit Panthers attack to the win.

Boyd had two doubles and a single in the five-inning game. Mitch Orser got the win on the mound and added a single and a double at the plate. Ryan Guerrette, Matt Townsend and Robbie Hill each notched two singles.

Chuck Robinson hit two singles to lead Ashland.

Houlton 15, Madawaska 1

At Madawaska, Nick Howe scattered four hits as the Shiretowners got the win in the six-inning game.

Mike Weston stroked three singles while Nick Howe and Jim Gravel each tripled for the winners.

Ben Cyr doubled and Ryan Cyr singled for Madawaska.

At Limestone, Dave Bernard’s two doubles, one single and three RBIs led the Tigers to the win.

Graham Sayers drove in two runs with two singles, and Matt Findlen knocked two singles for Fort Fairfield.

Ian Hall led Limestone with two singles and one RBI, and Shawn Butts knocked out a one-run double.

At Sherman Station, Luke Cullins socked a triple that drove in the eventual game-winning run in the fifth inning as Katahdin collected the win.

Cullins added a single to his triple and Willie Sleeper struck out eight in getting the win.

Rick Melanson, Mike Harris and Levi LaDuc each singled twice for Penquis.
