PORTLAND — The Maine Council of Churches recently chose Philip W. Hussey Jr. and the Hussey family, owners of Hussey Seating Co. of North Berwick, to be recognized for the exemplary ethical and ecologically responsible manner in which they have conducted business for the past 161 years.
The company, established in 1835 by William Hussey, began as a manufacturer of agricultural plows. Today the Hussey Seating Co., with Philip Hussey as chairman of the board and chief executive officer, is internationally renowned for the production of superior quality spectator seating.
Hussey, his family and the company will be honored at a testimonial dinner Thursday, May 23, at the Shawmut Inn in Kennebunkport. Proceeds from the dinner will benefit the programs of the Maine Council of Churches.
