WASHINGTON — U.S. Rep. Jim Longley Jr. was appointed to a six-member panel Friday by House National Security Chairman Floyd Spence, R-S.C. The panel was created under the 1996 National Defense Authorization Act.
The panel will review the Navy’s progress toward procuring a more capable, less expensive, next generation nuclear attack submarine. Other members of the panel are Rep. Herbert Bateman, R-Va., and Rep. Neil Abercrombie, D-Hawaii.
