Outlook: Maine’s North Atlantic Conference season begins tonight against the Terriers. Maine coach Rudy Keeling picked BU No. 1 in the preseason coaches’ poll, and he is expecting a tough go against the Dennis Wolff’s Terriers, whose two losses have come by a total of five points. Awojobi, an All-NAC forward, is among the league’s most dominant players at both ends of the court. “He’s going to be a pro,” said Keeling, who will have Ledbetter and Logan will try to defend Awojobi. Maine hopes to improve its shooting after an inconsistent effort during a 1-1 trip to California last week. The Black Bears are fired up in hopes of opening the league schedule with a victory. Logan has been a horse on the boards, while freshman Gordon heads Maine’s balanced offense. BU has yet to show a perimeter punch, having shot 14 percent from 3-point range.
