Car rolls over after driver falls asleep

SMYRNA — David Rigg, 34, of Bangor was taken to the Houlton Regional Hospital Monday, after he fell asleep at the wheel on Interstate 95 and his car rolled over.

Trooper Tom Milton said Rigg was traveling south at about 10:30 a.m. when he fell asleep. His 1984 Chevrolet Celebrity left the road on the right side and was traveling in the grass when he awoke.

When Rigg tried to get it back onto the pavement, it rolled over onto the break-down lane, said Milton. Rigg was not wearing a seat belt, the trooper said.

The hospital official in charge of patient conditions was not available to comment on whether Rigg was admitted to the hospital.

The car was demolished.
