BANGOR — Russ Libby, member of the board of directors and former president of the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association, will speak after the seventh annual harvest supper at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, at the First Universalist Church, 120 Park St.
Libby will speak on buying locally produced food. Maine people spend $2.5 billion a year on food, he says, but each person spending $10 a week on local food would keep $625 million in Maine and encourage employment.
The supper and lecture are sponsored by the Peace and Justice Center of Eastern Maine.
