‘Jammers defeat Belfast

ROCKPORT – Camden-Rockport led all the way and claimed one of its most significant field hockey victories, a 4-2 decision over perennial power Belfast here Tuesday.

The Windjammers beat Belfast for the first time in at least three years, said delighted C-R coach Susan Rand.

Joanna Stone scored two goals, one in each half, to key Camden-Rockport’s fourth win against two defeats. It was Belfast’s first loss this fall.

Addie Chamberlain scored in the first half and Amy Philbrook scored with 30 seconds left in the game. Amanda Crysler made 22 stops in net for the victors.

Liz Kelley scored for Belfast in the first half and Darci Brown connected in the second half.

Renee Box made five stops for Belfast, 3-1-1.

Dexter 2, Stearns 0

At Millinocket, Melissa Warren scored both goals for the Tigers, now 3-2.

Warren netted both goals unassisted in the first half. Goalie Christina Dorman made one save for the shutout.

Colleen Burgess stopped 16 shots for Stearns, 0-3-2.

Nokomis 2, Foxcroft 1 (OT)

At Newport, Hope Kurro scored on a Kelly Deering assist on the third shot of the third set of overtime corners as Nokomis won.

Deering had the other goal for the 4-1-1 Warriors, who are 3-0-1 in OT corner situations this season. Sara Davis added an assist for Nokomis, which received seven saves on 11 shots from Jenn Crudell.

Kylie Kimball scored on a Heidi Churchill setup for the 3-3-1 Ponies. Hillary Steinke made eight saves on 11 shots.

Me. Central Ins. 2, Rockland 1

At Rockland, Brandi Ross scored off her team’s second penalty corner to give Maine Central Institute the victory over Rockland. Rockland is 1-6, and MCI is 2-2.

Rockland’s Cristina Fowlie opened the scoring at 1:59 into the game off an Emily Gushee pass, but MCI’s Katie Baker tied it with a penalty stroke with 5:14 left.

MCI goalie Casey Murray made nine saves on 18 shots while Gr MCI goalie Casey Murray made nine saves on 18 shots while Greta Gundel and Glorijane Tootill combined for six saves on eight shots.

JV: MCI 2, Rockland 1

John Bapst 3, Hermon 0

At Hermon, Shannon Murphy scored two goals to give the 2-3-1 Crusaders the victory.

Vanessa Moore picked up the other goal for John Bapst. Kate Strout, Alyssa Ross and Ambulea Freeman each had assists. Edythe Dyer made six saves on eight shots.

Erica Brewer made 37 saves on 40 shots for the 0-6 Hawks.

Hampden 1, Old Town 0

At Hermon, Olivia Fitzpatrick scored four minutes into the second half to give 3-3 Hampden the win.

Kaili Temple and Carolyn Roderick assisted on the goal. Amy Hafford made seven saves on 13 shots to notch the shutout.

Christy Danielson made six saves on 10 shots for the 5-1-1 Indians.

Girls soccer

Penquis 1, Schenck 0

At East Millinocket, Candy Carron’s goal with 34 seconds left in the first half accounted for Penquis’ second win against four defeats. Barany Chessa assisted on the goal, and goalie Christen Derros made 15 saves.

Goalie Courtney Coffin made 12 saves for Schenck, now 1-3-1.

Mt. View 1, Camden-Rockport 0

At Rockport, Lasha Keller connected off a feed from Andrea Cochrane early in the second half as Mt. View improved to 5-0-2.

Leslie Clifford secured the shutout with seven saves.

Darrah Roberts stopped nine shots for Camden-Rockport, 4-3.

Medomak Valley 1, Belfast 0

At Belfast, Alice Bishop scored late in the second half to set up the Panthers’ fifth win in seven games.

Christine Wichenloch assisted, and Becky Ramusser stopped 12 shots to earn the shutout.

Andrea Woodbury stopped 24 shots for Belfast, 0-5-2.

Boys soccer

Nokomis 2, Bangor 1

At Newport, Tom Lapointe’s unassisted goal with 10 minutes left in the game gave the Warriors the winning edge.

Ben Baldwin scored Nokomis’ first goal from a Jason Hewitt pass eight minutes into the game. Jonathan Parker made 12 saves on 19 shots for the 3-2 winners.

Eduardo Sanhueza scored Bangor’s goal 26 minutes into the first half. Goalie Dan Acheson made seven saves on 16 shots for the 4-3 Rams.

Bucksport 2, Old Town 2 (OT)

At Old Town, Chris Holyoke scored off a corner kick by Jeff LaChance with five minutes left in regulation play as Bucksport earned a 2-2 tie against Old Town.

Greg Gobel had an unassisted goal for the 2-3-2 Golden Bucks. Jeremy Johnson made six saves on 11 shots.

Rick Jordan and Rob Blake tallied the goals for the 0-5-1 Indians. Josh Mitchell recorded 18 saves on 26 shots.

JV: Bucksport 4, Old Town 0

Penquis 4, Central 1

At East Corinth, Chris Cowing had a pair of goals and goalie Mike Harris made 15 saves on 20 shots to pace Penquis.

Penquis is 3-4. Central fell to 1-7.

Levi LeDuc and Derek Perkins scored the other Penquis goals with LeDuc also picking up two assists. Rick Melanson and Cowing had the other assists.

Robin Reynolds scored off a Jon Hatch pass for Central and goalie Nick Parent made 17 saves on 23 shots.

MDI 2, Orono 0

At Orono, Mark Ingrisano and Jeff Church scored second-half goals to key the Trojans.

Alfred Doyle made nine saves on 11 shots for the 5-0-2 Trojans.

Scott Cunningham made 13 saves on 17 shots for 2-1-3 Orono.

George Stevens 3, Hermon 1

At Hermon, Tim Pert scored his second goal of the game with 5 minutes left in regulation off a Brock Mattson assist to give the Eagles of Blue Hill the victory.

Derek Torrey added a penalty kick with 30 seconds left for the 5-0-1 winners. Pert scored an unassisted first-half goal and goalie James Inglis finished with four saves on eight shots.

Ken Peterson converted a Volker Sattinger pass 12 minutes into the game for 3-3-1 Hermon. Goalie Sean Smith made eight saves on 15 shots.

Sumner 5, DI-Stonington 2

At Deer Isle, Carl Grosjean assisted on three goals to help lead Sumner of East Sullivan to the victory.

Matt Welch, Emil Thomann, Jason Soule, Jeff Crowley and Mike Bills each scored a goal for the 3-3 Tigers. Aaron Scott made five saves on seven shots.

For the 0-6 Mariners, Steve Sullivan netted two goals and Matt Coombs made 10 saves on 15 shots.

Ellsworth 2, John Bapst 0

At Ellsworth, Mike Hangge did the job for the Eagles with a score at the 5:39 mark in the first half from an Adrian Gray assist.

Santi Rave iced the game for 3-2-2 Ellsworth with 10:09 left in the second half on another Gray assist. Matt McDonald and Ryan Conley combined to make five saves on six shots.

Jarrod Guimond made six saves on 10 shots for 1-3-1 John Bapst.

Bangor Christian 6, East Grand 0

At East Grand, Jeff Demolder’s hat trick paced the Crusaders to the win.

Ryan Mick had a pair of goals and assists for 4-1 Bangor Christian. Alan Sage scored a goal, and John Paulson, Kevin Schroeher, and Nate Bassett all had assists. Sage, Demolder and Dan Martin shared goalkeeping duties to make three saves on three attempts.

For 0-3 East Grand, Frank Godley had nine saves on 24 shots.
