WATERVILLE — Warnaco Inc. laid off another 46 workers from its Hathaway shirt factory on Friday, bringing to 300 the number of jobs lost since March of last year.
Company officials blamed job redundancies and restructuring on the latest round of layoffs.
There are 609 workers left at the factory employed 900 workers a year ago. The factory makes Hathaway men’s dress shirts, along with the Chaps by Ralph Lauren label.
“This was a restructuring that was necessary to make Hathaway competitive long term,” a company spokesman said.
