Work starts on Korean War Memorial

BANGOR — The 101st Civil Engineering Squadron, Maine Air National Guard, has begun foundation work on the Maine Korean War Memorial at Mount Hope Cemetery.

The large foundation that will hold the 11-ton memorial, and grading and landscaping will be completed by Friday, June 16, officials said. After the site work in done, the memorial will be brought to the site and a walkway will be built with dedication stones representing individuals and municipalities.

A dedication ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 29.
