Brown sparks C-R past Mount View

THORNDIKE – Stacy Brown scored eight of her 15 points to fuel a fourth-quarter surge and help carry Camden-Rockport to a 55-43 schoolgirl basketall win over Mount View Tuesday night.

The Windjammers outscored Mount View 17-6 in the final eight minutes to pull away. Amanda Roberts netted 15 points and Darrah Roberts had 10 for the winners.

Amanda Hayes powered the Mustangs with 14 points and 18 rebounds while Leslie Weed scored 12 points.

Gates led the Minutemen from Millinocket with 13 points and Cara Moir contributed 11.

Becky Goggins powered the Crusaders with 18 points.

At Winslow, Tiffany Bona made a free throw with 4.5 seconds left to help the host Black Raiders hold on for an important victory over Maine Central Institute of Pittsfield.

Winslow, currently 11th in Eastern Maine Class B, is battling to reach at least the ninth spot and a playoff berth. Neither team led by more than two points during a seesaw fourth quarter.

Devon Quirion led Winslow with 11 points and five assists and Bona scored 11 points. Abby White had 10 points and eight rebounds and Heather Twombly 10 points and five assists for the winners.

Alison Cropley and Jaime Jensen netted 16 points each for the Huskies.
