Hughes powers Witches past Indians

BREWER – Denise Hughes scored 15 points to lead the Brewer Witches to a 46-29 schoolgirl basketball victory over the Skowhegan Indians at the Brewer High gym Tuesday night.

The Witches held a slim three-point lead after one quarter, but a 16-4 effort in the second quarter gave the hosts a comfortable 27-12 lead at halftime.

The Witches played the Indians about even the rest of the way.

Dustiny Demo scored 10 points to pace the Indians.
