Late run keys Witches by Indians

BREWER – The host Brewer Witches went on a 13-0 run with 2:42 left in the game to turn a 6-point deficit into a 7-point lead and pull out a 77-71 victory over Old Town here Thursday in a schoolboy basketball game.

Jared Seavey led Brewer with 18 points. Jason Leighton added 16 more while Adam King had 11 and Nate Freeman 10.

The Indian’s Reggie Dorr scored a game-high 25 points. Jeff Kimball had 14.

At Hermon, Liza Doughty poured in 36 points, including 13 in the third quarter when Hermon outscored Hampden 22-6, to lead the Hawks past the Broncos.

Renee Richardson chipped in with 12 points for the winners and Stephanie Huff added 11.

Twin sisters Emily and Eryn Leavitt paced the Broncos with 15 and 13 points, respectively. Ali Hathaway chipped in with 11 points.

At the Portland Ice Arena, Peter Ogilvie celebrated his birthday by scoring the winning goal off a Justin Payson assist with 2:13 left in overtime to give the Rams the victory.

Payson scored three goals for the 5-5 Rams with the third off a Chris Tanis pass to tie the game at 3-3 with 1:23 left in regulation. Brad Eslin and Jeremy Tanis assisted on Payson’s first goal and the second was unassisted.

Jeff Davidson, Adam Aliberti, and Tom Troubh each scored a goal for the 3-9 Bulldogs. Davidson, Troubh, and Joe Dante added an assist apiece.
