Suzanne Lommler, a junior at Stearns High School, won first place in the voice category at the division level of the Music Teachers National Association-Yamaha High School Competition held Jan. 14 at the University of Maryland. She qualified for the contest by winning the Maine competition in November. Lommler is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Elmer Lommler of Millinocket and voice student of Anne Mills of Lincolnville Beach. She will participate in the MTNA national competition March 25-27 in Albuquerque, N.M.

Designated Student of the Month for December at Searsport District High School was senior Andrea Cousins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Cousins of Frankfort. The award recognizes academic progress, school citizenship, personal deportment and participation in activities outside the classroom.

Project Graduation Committee meeting, 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25, Hampden Academy.

Brewer High School production of “Arsenic and Old Lace,” 7 p.m. Jan. 26-28, Brewer Middle School.

Financial aid workshop, George Stevens Academy, Blue Hill, 7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 26, GSA cafeteria.

Blood drive, sponsored by Brewer High School Key Club and the American Red Cross, 8 a.m.-3 p.m., Friday, Jan. 27, BHS Library.
