Two men charged with trafficking after drug search

STACYVILLE — Two local men were arrested Wednesday afternoon at a home on Kelly Hill Road in connection with drug trafficking and related incidents.

Jean Godat, 39, was charged with aggravated furnishing of marijuana, a felony, and criminal threatening. About a pound of marijuana was seized from his home.

Andre Godat, who is reported to be in his 60s, was charged with assault and obstructing government administration after he interfered with a search being conducted by Maine Drug Enforcement Agency agents and other police at the home of his son, Jean Godat. An MDEA agent was assaulted by the elder Godat, but was not injured, officials said.

According to Darrell Crandall Jr. of the MDEA in Houlton, Jean Godat was not at home at the time of the search, but Andre Godat was there. When Jean Godat returned home, he turned himself in to authorities.

Both men were taken to the Penobscot County Jail in Bangor. They were subsequently released on bail and have been scheduled to appear in Millinocket District Court on Feb. 17.
