Leadbetter, Otis give Warriors win in overtime

DEXTER – Danny Leadbetter and Jerrid Otis each scored four points in overtime as Nokomis outscored Dexter 8-1 to notch a 68-61 schoolboy basketball victory over Dexter Thursday night.

Jody Grant had a game-high 27 points for the Warriors of Newport, including four 3-pointers. Leadbetter finished with 18 points.

Brad Olson’s 19 points, 19 rebounds, and five steals led the host Tigers. Josh Wintle contributed 14 points, 10 rebounds, six steals, and six assists.

At Millinocket, Mark Corliss led a quintet of players in double-figure scoring with 19 points and paced Mount Desert Island to the win over host Stearns.

Garric Worcester had 17 points, Lucas Dunbar added 15, and both Jason Asher and Rob Gilbert scored 14 points for the Trojans.

Ryan Reeves had 20 points and John Montgomery 12 for the Minutemen.

Rush was 6-for-7 from the line and also had one 3-pointer.

For Penquis, Rusty Lyford had a game-high 28 points that included seven 3-pointers. Brian Heal contributed 12 points.

At Bangor Wednesday night, sophomore left wing Seth Sands collected a hat trick and B.J. Costa made 35 saves to lead Foxcroft Academy over Messalonskee of Oakland at Sawyer Arena.

Ben Cookson, Rob Freese, and David Speed had the other goals for FA, now 3-2-1, with Freese and Speed each picking up an assist. Ry Hoffman had two assists.

Nate Ponitz scored the Messalonskee goal, and Ryan Ridky made 27 saves for the 4-1 Eagles.

Brewer 4, Foxcroft 2

At Alfond Arena in Orono, Ben Roeder and Matt Enman each had a goal and an assist to help lead the Brewer Witches past Foxcroft Academy.

Jason Seavey and Ryan Gerard each scored a goal for 3-2 Brewer. Chad Allen had two assists and Shawn Murphy made 13 saves on 15 shots.

For 3-3-1 Foxcroft, Seth Sands and Todd Perkins each scored a goal and Ry Hoffman assisted on both. B.J. Costa had 25 saves on 29 shots.
