Electrical problem cause of house fire

EXETER — Members of an Exeter family lost most of their belongings to fire Friday morning.

An electrical problem at the Jim Lee home on Tibbetts Road apparently started the fire, according to James Emerson, Corinna fire chief. No one was at home when the fire broke out, he said. The fire was reported to authorities by a passer-by.

When firefighters arrived, Emerson said, the two-story wooden frame home was filled with smoke. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, but much of the interior of the home was damaged and all of the furnishings were destroyed. The home may still be structurally sound, Emerson said.

When the call came in at 8:45 a.m. Friday, many firefighters were at the scene of a house fire in St. Albans. Units from Corinna, Dexter, Newport, Garland and Hartland responded to the call in Exeter. No one was injured fighting the fire, Emerson said.

Firefighters stayed on the scene until 10:15 a.m. The Lee family was insured, Emerson said.
