BANGOR DAILY NEWS (BANGOR, MAINE

V. Paul Reynolds (Letter, BDN, Oct. 31) claims that 85 percent of Maine residents receive doe permits vs. 15 percent to out-of-staters. I would like to know what percentage of applicants received doe permits in state and out of state. I’m sure the difference is probably reversed or very close. Furthermore, I have never received a doe permit in eight years of applying as a Maine resident.

I think some changes are in order. Perhaps doe ticket holders this year should not be eligible next year or perhaps a two- to three-day “any deer” season for Maine residents, only then “bucks only” the rest of the season, with a small percentage of doe tags going to out-of-staters.
