There is a clear choice this year in who to vote for in state Senate District 7: John O’Dea.
John graduated from the University of Maine and went on to serve as Orono’s state Representative for two terms. He was elected to the state Senate in 1992 and is seeking a second term. To me, that’s a lot of experience, and that’s important, but that’s not the only reason I’m supporting John.
John is a thoughtful, hard-working person who likes to take on tough fights and keep at it until he wins. Anyone who watched the battle for the University of Maine’s budget in 1993 knows this — the Legislature continued to send the message that the University of Maine System had to be cut. But John O’Dea, as chairman of the Education Committee, fought for flat funding in the state budget for UM, and he never gave up. He beat the odds and kept UM at flat funding.
When things I care about are on the line down in Augusta, I want someone who’s going to take a stand for me and keep fighting. John O’Dea is that kind of person. Collin J. Worster Orono
