Vice president to visit Bangor

BANGOR — Vice President Al Gore will become the latest member of the White House team to visit Maine on behalf of Democratic candidates when he attends the Maine Democrats’ annual Jefferson-Jackson dinner Saturday night.

Gore’s keynote speech in Bangor will cap a whirlwind tour of the state that includes campaign stops in Portland for 1st Congressional District candidate Dennis Dutremble and in Bangor for 2nd District nominee John Baldacci earlier in the day.

First lady Hillary Rodham Clinton appeared in Portland last week to promote Senate candidate Tom Andrews and gubernatorial hopeful Joseph Brennan. President Clinton has visited Maine twice in recent months.
