ROCKLAND — The only contested race in the Nov. 8 Rockland city election will be for election warden. The filing deadline for candidates was the close of business Monday.
The battle for a one-year term as warden pits incumbent Cynthia Wass against Jean Chalmers, who has been critical of the conduct of recent elections.
The lone candidate for a three-year term on the city council is Robert Gagnon, seeking the seat being vacated by Richard Warner.
Candidates for three three-year terms on the SAD 5 board of directors are Leone Knowles, Bethany Gerrish and Dennis Norton. Knowles and Norton are incumbents. Current member Clarence Leonard is not seeking re-election.
Other candidates are incumbent Leona Benner for one year as ward clerk and incumbent Richard Spear for a five-year term on the port district board.
