Congressional candidate Rick Bennett Tuesday criticized Democratic challenger John Baldacci for naming former House Speaker John Martin to his Aroostook County steering committee.
“John Martin and John Baldacci are two peas in a pod,” Bennett said. “While in the state Senate, Baldacci has opposed term limits, the balanced budget amendment, the line-item veto, direct election of Maine’s constitutional officers and stricter ethics and financial disclosure laws.
“If he gets elected to Congress, you can count on Baldacci to fight against reform in Washington,” the Oxford County Republican said.
Bennett sponsored the first resolution in 1993 to remove Martin from his position as Speaker of the House.
