CARIBOU — A recent appeal for Hospice volunteers has resulted in enough volunteers to justify a spring volunteer training session, according to Karen Rego, central Aroostook Hospice coordinator.
Training will begin at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, at the new Visiting Nurses of Aroostook office on Route 89. Volunteers will train Tuesdays and Thursdays for five weeks.
Volunteer openings remain for individuals interested in visiting terminally ill clients during weekday hours. Volunteers will be trained in the areas of confidentiality, communication, family interaction, patient comfort and the psychology of death, grief and bereavement. Interested individuals may contact the VNA office at 498-2578.
