ROCKPORT — Rockporters had no trouble Tuesday approving an expansion and remodeling project at the town library.
By a vote of 651-97, the town approved taking up to $150,000 from the library’s capital reserve and trust funds to add a 25-by-30 foot adult non-fiction room, to remodel the children’s room and to build a handicapped-accessible front entry.
A total of $55,000 will come from existing donations to the reserve fund. The rest will come from the trust fund, which will be replenished by donations.
Plans for the project are being developed by architect Robert Davis of Camden. After review by the library trustees and the selectmen, construction bids will be solicited for the work to start this spring.
