ASHLAND — About 30 residents on Watt Street remained without water Monday as local crews continued to repair a water line that broke this weekend.
Water district officials attributed the problem to low water levels, wear and tear on water lines and frost movement, although the exact cause was not known, according to Cindy Chapman, district secretary and treasurer.
Water valves near Watt Street where shut off Saturday morning, causing an initial disruption for 300 customers. A majority of the customers had water restored by Sunday, she said.
A ditch near the break area prevented water from entering residents’ basements, said Chapman.
