Ware’s 21 points lead Rockland past John Bapst 48-42

ROCKLAND – Susan Ware scored 21 points to lead the Rockland Tigers to a 48-42 schoolgirl basketball victory over the John Bapst Crusaders Saturday.

Tori Hall contributed eight rebounds to the winning effort while Ware also picked off eight misses.

Shannon Webster and Becky Goggins paced Bapst with 11 points each. Webster also had seven rebounds.

At Mount Desert, Shannon Hamilton made 10 of 11 free-throw attempts and scored a game-high 17 points to lead the Eagles past rival Mount Desert Island.

Hamilton, a 5-foot-10 junior, also grabbed 12 rebounds for Ellsworth.

Anna Hathaway netted 13 points and pulled down eight rebounds for the Trojans.

At East Millinocket, Kim Johnson’s 12-footer with more than a minute left in overtime held up as the game-winner as Calais remained undefeated in front of a sellout crowd.

The victory marked the second time in seven days that the Blue Devils had defeated 13-2 Schenck. The Wolverines managed to score only 11 points after halftime.

Kelly Dow scored 13 points to lead the Blue Devils, while Johnson had 10.

Keli Daigle scored 14 points for the Wolverines. Kristen Chavarie tossed in 12.

Erin Cole-Karagory lead Caribou with 19 points, and Tricia Martin scored eight of her 15 points in the fourth.

Kyla Malbon scored 16 points to pace Old Town, and Shannon Field added 14 points.

At Jackman, Jennifer Decker led a balanced scoring attack with 13 points as Forest Hills won again.

The host Tigers, who also got 10 points each from Stephanie Lumbert and Sara Gourde, moved to 13-4 on the season. Gourde also had 10 rebounds.

For Vinalhaven, Farrah Swears had 13 points.
