ROCKLAND — The Farnsworth Art Museum will be closed to the public through Jan. 14 to begin preliminary work on renovation plans to add a Nevelson-Berliawsky gallery of art, a new Main Street gallery and shop, and update systems throughout the museum.

The administrative offices, located at 356 Main St., will remain open during regular business hours, Monday through Friday.

The museum will reopen Jan. 16 with an exhibition of recent works by William Thon of Port Clyde, scheduled to run through Feb. 27. A public reception will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 16.

The museum will be closed for major construction work in March and April.
