`Media Watch’ tackles cable dispute

Controversy between cable television companies and local commercial television stations, highlights the season premiere of Maine Public Television’s “Media Watch” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4.

The heated dispute began when Congress passed new cable TV laws regulating the cable industry and allowing local commercial television stations to require payment from cable companies that carry their signal.

Host John Greenman and panel regulars Tom Hanrahan, Marie Tessier, Nicols Fox and Al Diamon will be joined by Lew Colby, vice president and general manager of Maine Broadcasting, and Jeffrey Darrell, vice president for Public Cable of Portland.

The program will re-air Sunday, Sept. 5 at 4:30 p.m.
