BANGOR DAILY NEWS (BANGOR, MAINE

I am a bit perplexed by the Dec. 23 letter by Ogden E. Small, in which he calls into question the motives of Ginger Davis, an attorney for Bangor Hydro in the Basin Mills proceedings.

Mr. Small thinks that serving as attorney for the Natural Resources Council and, later, as representative of the Hydro are mutually exclusive. That is patently wrong.

Both myself and a number of others are conservationists and are strong proponents of the Basin Mills project. Many of us were as against the Big “A” as we are in favor of Basin Mills. We see the benefits of the project as far outweighing the costs, with very little environmental impact. Apparently that’s Ms. Davis’ position as well.

Ms. Davis was on our side then and she is now. I’m glad to have it that way. I note that Mr. Small’s service on the council was indicated to be in the past tense. Perhaps that’s a plus, as well. Paul J. Reagan Orono
