CAMDEN — Police are continuing their investigation into two break-ins at local businesses that were reported Christmas Eve.
Police believe the offices of McCoole Construction Co. on Union Street and Camden Pottery at the public landing were broken into sometime during the night of Dec. 23. The break-ins were discovered when the companies opened for business the next morning.
Police Chief Terry Burgess said that more than $1,000 in currency was taken in the McCoole break-in and less than $500 was taken from the pottery shop. The intruders forced a rear window to gain entrance to McCoole’s. There was no sign of forced entry at Camden Pottery. Burgess said that a rear door may have been left open inadvertently.
“I don’t think the two are related in any way,” Burgess said Wednesday. “Physical evidence was recovered from both scenes.”
Lt. Phil Roberts and Officer Linda Miller are conducting the investigation, Burgess said.
