Scott Borek, former assistant hockey coach at Dartmouth College, Providence, and Brown University, has been named the head men’s hockey coach at Colby College in Waterville. He will replace Charlie Corey, who left after three years to return to coach at Lawrence School (Mass.).
Borek is a 1985 graduate of Dartmouth College where he majored in English. His hockey career was cut short by a neck injury suffered during his sophomore year.
He spent the last four seasons at Brown where he was the recruiting coordinator and bench assistant. Borek had been an assistant coach at Providence for three years, and he began his coaching career as a student assistant at Dartmouth in his final two seasons.
Borek played baseball, football, and hockey at St. John’s Prep School in Danvers, Mass.
Colby was 10-12-1 a year ago and hasn’t had a winning record since the 1986 season.
