PVHS’ first 4-year class celebrates 20th reunion

BROWNVILLE JUNCTION — September 1968 was a big time for members of the Class of 1972. They would be the first class of students to spend their entire four years at Penquis Valley High School in Milo.

Previous classes attended either Milo High School and Brownville Junction High School before consolidation of those schools created Penquis Valley. The class graduated 72 seniors in June, 1972. Twenty years later, they held their 20th class reunion, Saturday, July 18, 1992.

A family afternoon was held from 12 noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Brownville Elementary School with 24 members attending from the Class of ’72, as well as 59 guests, spouses and children. A special guest was Timothy Comeau from Minnesota, Class of ’73, who was class marshal for the 1972 graduation.

In the evening, classmates and guests held a social hour, business meeting and dance at the Brownville Junction High School Alumni Building. Master of ceremonies was Louis Ellison. A memorial service was held in memory of Thomas Ellison, the only classmate who has died.

Alumni attended from Florida, Mississippi, New Hampshire, Illinois, Connecticut and throughout Maine. There were 29 class members at the dance. Music was furnished by “The Music Maker,” Steve Pratt of Dexter.

Organizers for the reunion were Philip Andrews, Cindy Strout Smart, Parker Heal, Nancy Fletcher Russell, Debra Ricker Walker, Marilyn Nason Wiles, Louis Ellison and Joseph Washburn.
