CAMDEN — Dorothy Meriwether is the new park manager at Merryspring Park, and is responsible for operating the park and supervising staff and volunteers.
Before taking this position, she owned and operated Meriwether Gardens, a landscape and maintenance company in Santa Fe, N.M., and held other gardening positions in California.
She is a graduate of the certificate program in gardening and horticulture from the University of California at Los Angeles’ extension program.
Merryspring Park is located at the end of Conway Road in Camden behind the Camden IGA.
A non-profit organization, the 66-acre park has raised beds, herb, rose and lily gardens, the Margaret Pattison Woodlands, the Kitty Todd Arboretum, fields of wildflowers and miles of connecting trails.
Each Tuesday morning at 10 a.m., there are talks in the park covering various horticultural subjects. Admission to the talks is free to Merryspring members and $2 to non-members.
The Park is open from sunrise to sunset daily. Admission to the park is free.
