The Bangor Parks and Recreation Department, in conjunction with the Bangor Police Department and Savage Sound, will hold a dance to benefit the D.A.R.E. program, on Friday, May 29, at the Bangor Civic Center. The dance will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. for students in grades 5 thru 8. The cost is $3 per student.

The Parks and Recreation Department will be hold a summer track and field camp for children ages 6 to 14. The program will be held Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, June 15 through July 3, at the Garland Street track from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Cost of the program is $25.00.

The Dakin Pool on Stillwater Avenue and the Westside Pool on Union Street will open for the season with registration for swimming lessons on Monday, June 15, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. General swimming will be held at from 1:30 to 5 p.m.

Playgrounds will open for the season on Monday, June 22. They will be open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The Bangor Band will begin its Concert in the Park series on Tuesday, June 16, at the Gazebo at Paul Bunyan Park. The concerts start at 7 p.m. and are free to the public.
