Megan Flynn of Bangor, a junior at the Holderness School in Plymouth, N.H., recently spent two weeks in the ice and snow of the White Mountains as part of an intense Out Back wilderness survival program.

Timothy True of Charleston, a senior at Maine Maritime Academy, has received the Presidential Commendation Award from Kenneth Cutis, Maine Maritime Academy president, for his outstanding contribution to the community and college. He also received the Meritorious Service Award for service to the regiment of midshipmen and has been a four-time recipient of the Commandant’s Award for regimental excellence.
