Church helps fund Rose Parade float

OAKFIELD — Members of the Oakfield Seventh-day Adventist Church will feel some pride Jan. 1, because their church helped provide funding for a float in the annual New Year’s Day Tournament of Roses Parade at Pasadena, Calif. The theme of the float, which represents Seventh-day Adventist churches across the country, is “Discover the World of Service.”

To reflect that theme, the church is planning thousands of service projects in 1992 across the United States and Canada, including projects in health care, ecology, family life and homelessness.

During the 1990 Rose Parade, the church float featured children “Playing in Peace.” It took top honors in the noncommercial category.
