MACHIAS — The Machias Bay Area Chamber of Commerce is drafting a list of all area non-profit service and municipal organizations along with meetings and events sponsored by these groups, to post on a master calendar of coming community events.

Zaynep Turk, a University of Maine at Machias intern, is working with the MBACC to coordinate the project. Turk, as one of the first steps in the process, will contact area groups to gather the raw information needed to create the calendar.

Local organizations will also be asked to notify the chamber as soon as a meeting or event is scheduled. Once the calendar is in place, the MBACC will continue to function as the master clearing house for the community. The MBACC hopes to eventually establish a separate telephone information hot line.

MBACC Executive Director Dianne Tilton is asking that any Machias Bay area group or organization that hasn’t been contacted by February, call the chamber at 255-4402.
