Mail deliverers need clear paths

The United States Postal Service has asked that businesses and residential customers keep walkways, steps and other approaches to mail delivery points clear of ice and snow to avoid injury.

Those on rural delivery routes should keep the approach to mailboxes clear of snow so that the driver may pull forward after delivery of the mail, rather than back up.

Postal officials say that each year hundreds of letter carriers suffer sprains and broken bones resulting from falls.
