Orono man begins seminary

ORONO — Scott Mower of Orono has entered St. Mary’s Seminary in Baltimore under the sponsorship of the Roman Catholic of Diocese of Portland.

Mower attended Orono schools and graduated from Orono High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in child development from the University of Maine. While in college, he was a member of University Singers and Alpha Phi Omega fraternity.

After college, Mower was a member of the faculty of Indian Island School, where he taught third grade for nine years.

He entered the Roman Catholic Church on Easter 1989, and is a member of St. Mary’s Parish in Bangor.

Mower is the son of Carol Mower of Orono and Charles Mower of Old Town. He is the grandson of Mrs. George Mower of Bangor, and of Mr. and Mrs. Chester Prentiss of Waterville.
