More on global warming

I read with interest and concern Mark W. Anderson’s guest column (BDN, July 30), headlined, “National commitment needed on global warming.” The column is well and clearly written, and it makes several important points which all of us who live on and enjoy this planet today must get through our heads and act on.

However, one important point was not made. Our government and all of us as citizens must significantly reduce our dipstick approach to life in our use of the automobile and urge our government to spend money on, and support public transportation, rather than highways which desecrate the land and encourage the use of more and more tankfuls of gas.
