Vacation Bible school starting around Maine

BROWNVILLE JUNCTION — The daily vacation Bible school of the Brownville Junction United Methodist Church will be the first church-related activity to use the new four-room Sunday school addition. Bible school director Betty Friend said she looked forward to using the newly constructed facility.

The school will be held from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday, June 17-21. The theme is “Climb Aboard for a Pioneer Adventure at Sonward Ho.” Bible learning, crafts, games, snacks, fun and fellowship will highlight the activities.

People having questions about the program are asked to contact Friend or Chaffee. The church pastor is the Rev. Ronald Chaffee.

Other upcoming Vacation Bible Schools include:

A vacation church school at the Holden Congregational Church, which will be held 9:30-11 a.m. Monday through Friday, June 17-21, for children in first grade and up. The school is directed by Audrey Swanton and the pastor, the Rev. Robert Robb.

First Baptist Church in Blue Hill will offer vacation Bible school 9-11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday, June 24-28. The theme will be “Sonward Ho!,” and the school will be an adventure of life with Jesus based on the Book of Acts. Games, crafts, songs and snacks will be featured.

The United Baptist Church of Caribou will hold vacation Bible school 9-11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday, June 17-21. The theme will be “Sonward Ho.” Games, skits, songs, Bible stories and crafts will be offered to children ages 3 through grade eight. The closing program will begin at 6 p.m. June 21 with a potluck supper. Children from the community are invited.

Hampden Congregational Church, Hampden Highlands United Methodist and St. Matthew’s Parish will sponsor an interfaith vacation Bible school for children ages 4 through sixth grade 9-11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday, June 17-21, at Hampden Congregational Church. Registration will be held Monday morning, and the fee is $5. All are welcome. For information, call Janet Groshon at 862-4757.

The annual vacation Bible School program of Bethany Baptist Church in Presque Isle, titled “Passport to the Promised Land,” will be held June 17-21. The program for children ages 4 though grades six will include activities and historical Bible lessons 9-11:30 a.m. A snack will be provided. The closing program will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday, June 21, and will include refreshments.

The Patten Pentecostal Church will hold Vacation Bible School from 9 a.m. to noon from Monday, June 24, through Friday, June 28, at the church. For more information, call 528-2234.
