Two Machias pastors to serve in Corinna

MACHIAS — After serving four years as pastors at several United Methodist Churches in central amd eastern Washington County, the Rev. Randall Scheri and his wife, the Rev. Krisann Byrne-Scheri, will leave Machias July 1 to become co-pastors of the United Methodist Church of Corinna.

Since July 1, 1987, the Rev. Randall Scheri has been pastor of United Methodist Churches in Jacksonville, Cutler and West Lubec. He has served as a minister at the Washington County jail in Machias and assisted the needy in obtaining food, fuel and other services as a Salvation Army representative. He also was instrumental in establishing food pantries in Washington County.

The Rev. Krisann Byrne-Scheri has been pastor of the Milbridge and Wyman United Methodist Churches since July 1, 1989, while continuing her studies at Bangor Theological Seminary in Bangor.

She graduated from BTS with a master of divinity degree May 20, 1991, and will be ordained in Orono June 16 as a deacon in the United Methodist Church.

“We’ve enjoyed serving the people Down East,” Randall Scheri said Monday. “We will deeply miss the many friends we’ve made here, but look forward, as well, to making many new friends in our new ministry.”

In addition to serving as co-pastors at the Corinna United Methodist Churches, Randall Scheri will serve as pastor of the Grace Linn United Methodist Church in Hartland. Krisann Scheri will become pastor for United Methodist Churches in Ripley and Dexter in addition to Corinna.

The Scheris have two daughters, Jessica Girvin, 15, and Emily Girvin, 12 a dog and a pair of parakeets named Adam and Eve.

“The only thing is,” Randall Scheri said, “we don’t know which one is Adam and which is Eve.”
