I-95 improvements begin this week

AUGUSTA — Improvements to northbound lanes of Interstate 95 between Palmyra and Etna begin this week, officials at the Maine Department of Transportation said.

Rebuilding three bridges, repaving, and updating guardrails from east of Route 100 at Exit 39 in Palmyra to the Ash Mill Road in Carmel will be done.

Removal and replacement of the bridge’s surface, painting of steel and other repairs will be done where Route 143 crosses I-95.

Bridges carrying I-95 over the Sebasticook River and Maine Central Railroad tracks in Newport also will be rebuilt.
