ROCKLAND — A six-week young writers workshop will be held during May and June in the Key Bank Community Room. The workshop will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Mondays, May 13-June 17. Older students will meet from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays, May 15-June 17.
Participants will have an opportunity to explore writing interests of their choice. Other highlights include developing a personal writing style, discovering the art of journal writing, using dreams as source material, learning editorial skills and writing plays, short stories, essays and news stories for publication. The cost of the course will be $100 with a May 1 deadline for registering.
The instructor will be Elena Brandt of Belfast who has worked with young writers in the Belfast area and has been the writer-in-residence for a student book-writing project at Falmouth. Brandt has been a newspaper reporter, advertising copywriter, marketing communications consultant and free-lance writer and editor.
