Paper company helping McDonald house

Scott Paper Co. will join local grocers and consumers to raise funds for Ronald McDonald Houses and Ronald McDonald Children’s Charities for the sixth consecutive year. To date, Scott has donated more than $6.8 million nationwide.

More than 250 million Scott Paper products are carrying a design telling the Ronald McDonald House-RMCC story in February, March and April. Part of each purchase will be contributed to the charities, and Scott will contribute five cents from each UPC symbol from the packages returned to it before June 30.

Scott also will donate a part of the funds raised to “Our House of Maine Inc.,” the Bangor Ronald McDonald House. Last year, the company raised more than $7,000 for the Bangor Ronald House.

Consumers throughout Maine can help increase the donation to the Bangor Ronald House by saving their UPC symbols from Scott paper products and sending them to the Bangor House by June 15.

Pat Beckwith, Ronald House manager, hopes to double the $600 raised last year through UPC symbols. Symbols should be sent to Pat Beckwith, House Manager, Ronald McDonald House, 654 State St., Bangor 04401-5649.

Ronald McDonald House is an international program with more than 135 houses in the United States and six other countries.

It is a home away from home for families of children receiving treatment for serious illness at nearby hospitals. More than 2,000 families have stayed at Bangor’s Ronald House since it was built in 1983.

Ronald McDonald House is the cornerstone program of Ronald McDonald Children’s Charities, established in 1984 in memory of Ray A. Kroc, McDonald’s founder.
